The military will NOT take you if you:

a) have charges pending

b) have felonies on your record (they used to-hell, they used to recruit at jails-but nowadays they are VERY selective)

YOur best bet if this is your plan is to go talk to the recruiters NOW.....tell them what is up and that you think the discipline of the military is what you need....and if you score well enough on the ASVAB (armed services vocational aptitude battery), the recruiter will go to bat for you with the prosecutor's office and the court and THEY may be more willing to drop the biggies, hit you with some of the smaller stuff knowing that you wont' be a problem in THEIR county for a few years at least.

Man, just when I thought it couldn't get worse. Shred on a motorcycle is dangerous. Shred defending our country is just plain ludicrous.

He couldn't listen to any of our advice or obey simple state laws and we are encouraging him to join an outfit that requires blind obedience?

Wow is about all I can come up with.

Shred, 2 things, I'm sorry about your bike, I hope everything turns out amicablly. And second, +100000987 to the proverbs, I was glad to see that you had written something like that.

As for the military, I disagree with TK. I had a best friend that started down the wrong path after his parents divorce, drugs, recklessness, debautry.... and after basic and a stint in El Salvador, he was completely different. He said the biggest thing for him was the authoratative(is that a word?) figures is his life.

To close, good luck.. PHILLIPIANS 4:13

I never put anyone but myself in harms way.
I know how to drive 2 wheels after daily riding and probably 30,000 miles since I first got the bike sept. 08'.
This may sound stupide but, I may drive fast, but Im smart enough to do it where no one is in danger.

and I thought Military was a place that can straighten out people?

this was said on the other forum
Like I said before it's a f*ck traffic violation!!!! One in which absolutely no one got hurt by the way. He wasn't out raping nuns or anything. Was it his smartest move, no. Should he go to jail, no. He should get house arrest for a year or so.Add all the expenses he's incurring. the loss of his bike, and most likely an SR-22 insurance for a couple years. That sounds more then fair to me. Save jail for people that actually hurt other people and need to be locked up. You know, the people the officer wasn't catching by sitting on the side of a long stretch of lonely road looking for those evil speeders.
someone replied to this reply making a statement about an incident with one of the other members on the forum. here is that.
I'd also like to say Gramps makes a very valid point. Now, where is 1000ccrider's thread about the young man that dragged his son out of his home and proceeded to commit battery?
What happens was someone broke into 1000ccrider's house house and dragged his son outside and beat the shit outa him (battery).
The dad was trying to go to court for it but the sheriffs blew it off....case dropped...father is pissed. They did literly nothing about it.

Shall we read the charges again??? I'll omit the ones that truly wouldn't put anyone in harm's way...

1. Flee to elude
2. Flee to elude high speed wanton disreguard for safety
3. Driving w/o Lights
5. 114mph in 45mph zone !!!!
6. "Operating b/w? lanes?/nous? of vehicals" ??? - not sure what this is
9. Reckless driving
10. Passing in no passing zone !!!!
11. 76mph in 45mph zone !!!!
12. Ran red light !!!!
13. Cutting in(passing)

A year of riding and 30,000 miles has fully prepared you for ANY eventuality? I guess that means that after 22 years and roughly 1,000,000 miles or so of driving cars - I should expect to never get into a car crash again, right? That is so illogical that I don't even know where to begin. All it takes is for one 7 year old kid to step out between a couple cars one time and TWO lives are OVER.....

That IS stupid. There are laws for driving on the road. Without them we are ALL screwed. Yes, some of them get bent a bit (65 in a 55, etc.) but for the most part there is no mayhem. If you want to go fast and TRULY not put anyone in harm's way other than yourself and a select few others who have agreed to the circumstances - go to a damn track!
