Project #44 finaly ready for the track!

Post by China_Racer_1 »

Well other than an exhaust hanger and a throttle cable here she is. (Both showing up tomorrow)

Image

I got stickers on the way but they will be minimal. Race #44, a few CF stickers and a few product sponsors.

Image

I want a very minimalistic look for this beast.

I started her up again today and after warming her up reved it a bit. f*ck it sounds just like a race bike.

The pipe I got is a GP style open can. Very ear splitting loud he he he I love it! There are no restricitons on noise at the tracks here.

controls - who needs a Efen tachometer? I can hear it running!

Maden run at the track will be on Monday at the open practice thats being held. I will break the engine in proper then. Friday is also a free practice day then Saturday is qualifying.

Hopng a lot of the riders see this on next Sundays race... my ass end!

I got new Power 1 Michelins coming for her as well.

nearly two years in the making.

Many thanks to eveyone here for their help and guidance.

Spyder - Great work bro I will tell you how tight my ass puckers when I twist the throttle on the back straight on monday but I can tell ... "The force is strong in this one!"

Thanks for the kind comments.

I actually have a shift light and a tach on my other race bikes I have used but honestly I hardly ever use them.

I got my eyes glued to the track and my ears glued to the exhaust tone.

I shift on demand ha ha. I wil only improve onthis bike as its teh last one I will ever build for myself. at 47 years old I am getting a bit old to be competative with the younger faster (Richer) guys.

I built this for me. Its the bike I wish I had back in 1988 when I first put a leg over and FZR-400 at Long Beach Yamaha and bought it the days after it hit the showroom floor.

A great bike for the time no doubt but If I had this bike then I think I would have been kicking some serious ass.

I will get a proper tach rigged up over the winter so I can see whats going on with the bike and I plan to get a ignitech black box and a few other goodies as time and money allow.

The bodywork and USD forks really brings the 'ol fzr up to modern aesthetic standards.

I'm curious to see how much it weighs. Are you going to put it on the scales any time soon?

I stickered her out today and changed the white Custom fighters theme for the green theme. I think it looks better IMHO.

I need soem FZR on line decals!

Every time take her around the complex for a run I get a woody.... is that normal?

Got two sets of race tires now so its all up to me at the track and the bikes abillity to GO FAST!

Next weeks schedule looks like this:

Monday: I will actually do a proper break in of the engine and set up the suspension with Dave Sadowski.

Tuesday: I will be assisting Dave Sadowski in a Suzuki track riders training session for the factory riders.

Thursday and Friday: are open tracks now (I just found out) so I can practice then and get ready for the weekends event.

Saturday: Qualifying

Sunday: Race Day - I am in one event - Open superbike.

So I am up agaisnt a few 1000's and an 1198 Ducati (Uli just got a Factry ride with Ducati.. ASSHOLE ha ha ha) but that does not worry me its a short tight track so their displaement does not have much effect. In theory my shorter wheel based FZR-400 Frame with this killer track eating 600cc engine shoudl beat the f*ck out of them.

The big issue is Joel our local French roadracing savant who forgets things like gravity, geometry he jsut keeps the throttle open and forgets to slow down for corners. Serioulsy he is so fast he should be in WSBK.

A year and a half ago I gave him his first ever track lesson. Now he kicks my ass. Well at least I know he was paying attention in class ha ha

Check out these tires he was on. He came in and said he was sliding a bit maybe he needs new tires... YA THINK!

You can see where the rubber started to delaminate under the stress and heat.

As God as my witness this is from sliding the ass end around corners and NOT from a burn out. It was at Shaghai F1 trac ktwo weeks ago. He is a f*ck motorcycle freak of nature. I love it!

THough sadly for me four of my students that have bought bikes and stuck with it are al kickign my ass now. I guess thier youth might have something to do with it or maybe because they are always on thier own bike and I use what ever is available. But its nice to see I can halp train them up to speed.

I just go have fun now if I am in the top 5 I am a happy camper.
