The import and change of year could very well be the case. The UK has some funny ways of registering bikes. Better for a UK person to clarify it for you than me.
As for the term "Foxeye". You won't see it on any paperwork. For the most part it is a slang term used by motorcyclist to decipher between the two different models of FZR. In the US, we generally don't use the other model numbers to describe the bike. For example, the FZR400. There was the 1WG, 2TK, 3EN1, 3EN2, 3TJ. If any of them (besides the 1WG) had made it to the US, they all would be known as the FZR400 with the model year to identify which of the series it is. Instead, it is common to see adds for bikes listed as FZR400 3TJ in the UK. It gets confusing so don't worry about it.
Also, I noticed you have a WTB add for parts for this bike. Take a look at the eBay UK site. They have a ton of parts available for your model.

Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.
Something is lurking, waiting, wanting to be built......It calls to me from the darkness....

Hi,
Cheers for that info it`s much appreciated indeed ! I have been checking the ebay site for
things bud ,but because there was a year issue i discarded a lot of items (unless a pic was
provided) ..cos i wasn`t sure if they would fit etc..but i check it daily . I can now look for
parts for a 96 model .
As for the bikes year i`m now leaning heavily to it being a 1996 model,`cos if they were
only made from 94 to 96 it has to be.
Thanks

Re: 600R
Aye, if it's a UK machine it was probably sitting unsold at a dealers or distributors for a year or two after production ceased, before being sold 'new' for the first time and registered, with the registration showing the year it was first put on the road rather than manufactured. Pop off some of the plastics and check the date coding and that'll give a reasonable idea of the manufacture date.
Nice machine, BTW.

Well i`ve been doin a bit more digging ! Oh no i hear you all gasp Lol.
Well i`ve been looking at a few fiche`s (not the swiming ones
,and now i search the
years etc (and mainly look for the foxeye headlight fairing)...and this seems to discount
all years except 1995 ! All other years have old round headlight jobbies. I asked very early
on " It`s a 600R...Wot" ,what i meant by that was there are a few RJ RA..etc . I couldn`t
seem to get an answer to that..but i think i now have it
....omg you all gasp !
Well to find any parts (looking like the foxeye),they all come up with the YZF "RG" in the
1995 year . Just wondering if the "RG" is still same here IE: FZR 600 RG . Whats puzzled
everyone is my uk logbook that states dec/d manuf 1997,first reg 1998 . So feck knows what
the uk have done ,as this was only made from 94 to 96 . Why are they allowed to wrongly give
it a different year here in the uk is behond me ..and it`s created hell for me in knowing what
it really is .Only by help from here `ive been able to make some sense of it !
Thanks everyone !!!

Re: 600R
Shred, your 94 was built in 94 and has a manufactured date of 94. It was sold toward the end of 94 as a 95 model. Technically, there was no 94 model. Yamaha did this so they could use the bike in AMA racing as the rules state that for a bike to be eligible for racing that it must be available to the public. Yamaha had no intention of bringing the bike here but they were getting their ass kicked in racing. So they sold it here so they could race it. Which they won the championship that year with the YZF600R. Cars do the same thing when they are a new model year but sold a few months before the actual turn of the calendar year.
Nigi, You are on the correct track as the last designation of "G" typically indicates the production year of a model for Yamaha's. Such as - FZR600A '89, FZR600B '90, FZR600C '91, FZR600D '92, FZR600E '93, FZR600F '94...... In the US, the YZF600RG and YZF600RH was the 95 & 96 model years.

Re: 600R
As aforementioned, the V5 logbook date refers to the date the vehicle was first registered for road use in the UK, not the year it was manufactured. I know a chap with a "1999" Ford Sierra, despite the fact that production ceased C.1992, simply because that was the year it was first taken out, dusted off, and out on the road. All that's happened is that your bike has probably sat unsold for a couple of years at a dealers or distributors before being sold and then registered. No mystery, it's not at all uncommon here. Indeed, the met police have 3 or 4 unregistered Rover SD1 V8's that they bought c.1981 when production ceased (there was no suitable UK built replacement at the time, so they stocked up) and were these to be put on the road today they would be registered as 2009 on a '59' plate.nigi-baby wrote:Whats puzzled

Look at the ads in MCN and you'll see plenty of 2007/2008 models being sold new and unregistered by dealers at knockdown prices.
Re: 600R
hi just to let you know when you go to your bike part supply shop make sure he uses the fzr600r 94/96 Fisk and not the computer . if it is comp/web based you get usa info alot of ebay parts are following this root and that is where the confusion lies , your bike is a late reg fzr600r like someone said probably held in stock for a year or two . do love that shape fzr though and they sound so well with a nice can
head down bum up
