No. It is the Motorcycle Safety Foundation , Basic Rider Course. In my town they hold the course monthly at the local airport-use the hangar apron area.KASH wrote:did you take it at a harley shop 350 in ohio 25 at polaris or just take the test for free at the dmv
Our state is providing subsidy money. last year it was $89, plus $10 for the book.
This year it is $25 total.
The Harley dealers use the same instructors, charge more (up to $189 that I've seen) and are truly packed with assholes-imho
In Michigan if you want your motorcycle endorsement you need to:
a) go to the secretary of state and pay $6 for a motorcycle learner's permit.
b) ride for at least 30 days "in the presence of a licensed rider" and "not after sundown/before sunrise" (and god help you to get a license if you get busted on the permit)
c) then, contract a third party motorcycle driver training company to give you a test ($70 and up) and PASS the test (actually quite involved-lots of people borrow small enduros to tackle the test)
d) go back to the sec. state with your passing certificate, pay $12 for your new license. (and if you don't pass...start the process from step 'a' )
(total...= $88)
Or....
a) You can take the MSF course (either thru a Harley dealer....or for $25 through the MSF themselves)
b) walk in the sec. state with your MSF passing cert. and get issued your license...for $12.
(total...=$37 )
And..the MSF cert gets you 10% your insurance for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.
It's really a no-brainer(not to mention it will make a shitty rider better and a good rider much better)
