Why does it die?
Why does my bike get a strange tick in the idle and completely die and wont restart when it gets hot? The tick almost sounds like it is firing faster than it should and quickly become irresponsive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Why does it die?
sounds eletrical somewhere
maybe a bad VR?
have you done the swap?
only other tick i can think of is the fuel pump priming
is it constant ticking and can you locate where it's coming from?
more you can tell the more we can help, a video or sound recording would help even more

Re: Why does it die?
I dont know how much more i can ad. The "tick" sounds almost like a miss-fire or timing issue. Yes, I have a VR from a R6 plugged in now. The "tick" occurs just before it gets up to operating temp and then the throttle response gets sluggish and then the fan kicks in and it dies. It is not a fuel pump or valve noise. I hope this helps just a little.

Okay so now we can start making a list of what it's not and what it could be until we narrow it down.
Is the new VR wired correctly?
Have you checked the timing?
When did you change the plugs?
Are you running lean/rich?
could be your fuel pump still, maybe not getting enough power to push the fuel when it's because then the fan kicks on taking the needed power.
I'm still thinking it's electrical, but lets go through this stuff first, also give me a voltage reading on your battery
Lets see where we're at

Re: Why does it die?
Quite a strange problem. On a good note, atleast your fan turns on by itself. Like fizzinatorr said, sounds electrical. Take two voltage readings, one at idle and one at ~3.5k rpms. Its hard to tell what the ticking sound could be since they come in all shapes and sizes, but make sure the plug wires aren't grounding off anything. If they did, it would make a ticking sound.
