what kind of FZR is this?? 750??

Post by match417 »

I saw it at home depot today and I took a quick pic with my cell. What is it? It's a dual round headlight model, but it doesn't look like my 89. The tank fairing looks like a stock FZR tank fairing, but it doesn't fit the frame right, and the swingarm is different. I actually like this frame better than mine..

The swingarm is 3tj (400) style swing arm, the rear sub frame seems to be bolt on square section so 400 again IDK

Hi George
That's an FZR 400 1WG '87 model (the earlier models). If i could see the swingarm, i would be able to tell you if it's from 3TJ or the latest 1WG. 3TJ has the rear brake caliper beneath the swingarm, and a 4.50"x17" rim, while the latest 1WG has the caliper above it, and the rim is 4.00"x18"

Oh...and it's got a 600cc engine on. Take a good look of the left engine cover and you'll see what i mean.

My cell is a Palm Centro, i love it, I just sold my old treo on ebay and got the centro. The treo was the most durable phone i've ever owned, so far the Centro is holding up.

i saw one guy wave at me going the other direction on the freeway, another guy saw my video on youtube and messaged me for parts, and i worked on a guy's 1000 about a year ago. There is a shop here that buys tons of FZR's..not sure why, i see them on craigslist and then I guess the shop buys them, went by there yesterday and they had 4.

It's a 1990 spec US fzr400(1wg) it shares the same swingarm as the 3en2.

The cover does suggest that it's got a 600 motor in it although it could just be an aftermarket cover.
fzr660/400: fzr400 3en1 frame, 3en2 swinger, custom single seat subframe, fzr660 motor conversion, APE adjustable cam gears, full D&D 4-2-1 exhaust, falicon clutch basket, ignitech ignition, R6 front end with tz250 wheel, ohlins shock, storz steering damper, tzr250 rear wheel.

weighs 166kg wet (25kg lighter than my stock fzr600).
