Re: Trailering Ideas
I may be wrong but your Jeep dealer should be abe to install a Class 3 hitch for around $400. I can't remember the exact specs for size and weight, but usually the "tongue weight" is up to 600 pounds. The use some huge bolts to secure it to the vehicle's frame. That's what I got, should be able to tow anything just short of a 25' + boat. (not that I plan on destroying my 4.7L V8 or bank account with a boat)
I always try to get something that's overkill since what's acting on the "receiver hitch" is actually a moment force which is usually a lot.

Re: Trailering Ideas
I have a class 2 hitch for my H/F trailer and pull it with my volvo 850.I think a class 1 would be ok with just the bike on the trailer as long as you kept the weight towards the back..

Re: Trailering Ideas
fizz you should be good.. I also hve a wrangler (class 3htitch) and i had no problem.. I would come all the way to hightstown I'm sure you can get a similar deal closer.. (and save the 45 min excursion).. I'm close enough to help if you need it and we can use my jeep if you'd like.. (my work schedule is crazy so scheduling may be tuff)

Re: Trailering Ideas

but to what reelrazor said, you could just unhook the chain, then the transmission wouldnt be rolling. you would just have a spinning wheel.
but I would be terrified that my bike would fall over. maybe put some training wheels on it.
