Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.
Something is lurking, waiting, wanting to be built......It calls to me from the darkness....
I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel....Then I realize that it is the train coming to run my ass over....

george, can you post a pic of the plug? i think i understand it, but until i see it, i cant be totally sure. sadly i'm not even thinking of doing a front end swap anytime soon, but it is driving me crazy not understanding something!

Re: Front Fork Setups
The YZF750 bearing sizes are the same as the FZR1000 91-93 USD. The difference is that the YZF750 uses a different type of bearing. Which when you dissasemble the YZF fork looks like its never going to fit into a FZR frame. However, when you completly remove the YZF750 bearings, (including the cups that are in the frame) and mount sandard FZR1000 bearing it again becomes an almost 1on1 swap. The later FZR1000 USD's (94+) wil also fit in the earlier FZR1000's. They didn't change anything bearing sizes, just completly redisignd the internals of the fork.haunter wrote: thats impressive.
obviously, I hadnt done the work, I was going off what a few people that did some of the work told me.
Maybe the YZF front end I had is different, as its very similar to the 94+ USD's which are different from the 91-93's
but thats good info to have! that post needs to go to the wiki!
One thing to look out for with the 94+ FZR1000 forks and the YZF750 forks is that they use the 6piston caliper brakes, with the narrow brake disks. Either use the narrow disks with the fitting 6-piston calipers, or, switch to the 91-93 FZR1000 disks and you can use the standard 4 piston calipers from the FZR400/600/750/1000's.
Re: Front Fork Setups

Hi
OK so let me ask the questions here as well :
I have a 92 FZR6 and have a set of 92 USD FZR1k shocks available to me will the bearings from the Ik ( THE TOP BEARING IS 47mm o/d x 25mm i/d, THE BOTTOM BEARING IS 55mm o/d x 30mm i/d ) fit the fzr6 frame?
will the 600 front wheel fit on the 1K axle ?
Thanks
Re: Front Fork Setups
The bearings will be a 1 on 1 swap, you'll have to modify the steering stops a little, but that isnt a biggy.
You caný use the FZR600 front wheel. With the FZR600 295mm disks the calipers don't line up anymore. The hub of the FZR600 is narrower, so the brakes don't fit, also the FZR1000 axel is thicker than the FZR600 axel. So, you can get it to fit with alotta mods, but its 100% easier to source an FZR1000 front wheel with disks and axel.

Thanks for the "good" news, it is never an easy thing is it ?
I bet the front tyre is different too ?
Re: Front Fork Setups
The FZR1000 originally has a 130/60 tyre up front, but when i had this on my FZR400 it felt like i was riding through knee deep shit. Had no feeling in the front. The FZR400 and 600 have a 110/60 front tyre. I went for a 120/60 front on the 3.5 inch FZR1000 front wheen and it handels and brakes like a dream.

thanks for the heads up but is it 17" or 18" diam? just wondering if I have to buy a tyre & wheel+discs or just a rim with discs ?
Many thanks

Re: Front Fork Setups
mark,
if you want to do a front fork swap stay r6 or r1 (prob can get them cheaper) or get gsxr forks. there was a ton involved in my 636 swap...was it worth it...yeah it was awsome but for less then a gran in parts and tons of machine work you can have the r1/r6 3 spoke stuff to match your rear wheel.
if i would of done it allover again i think i would of just picked up 99-02 r6 forks or 01-03 gsxr 600 forks and been doe with it. way cheaper then what i did...

Re: Front Fork Setups
1k fronts are 17"
everyone switches to the 120 front tire because the bike is much friendlier that way
