Clutch time..?

Idle started droping slow and it would hang for a sec before dropping on down. Now the instant you put it gear it dies. This all happend in a quick ride down the street. Theres still pressure at the lever and the slack at the lever will adjust to where it should be. I figure I'm boned and gotta get a clutch. Thoughts?? I'm gonna dig into it more over the wkend.

have you tried to adjust your idle?

usually when clutches go they get weak and slip instead of grabbing more

Yup, it idles where it should sitting in neutral. Only does it while rolling, in gear or neutral just has to be moving.

check your carbs. the main jet might be clogged.
the pilot jet is what powers the idle, but the main is for when your rolling.

I may be totally off, but it sounds like the kickstand safety switch might be bad or have a loose connection. Anyway it's worth taking a look at. A friend of mine had that happen to him on his enduro and he had to completely bypass the switch to make his bike run, but it ran like a champ after he bypassed it.

Yup its not ur clutch, its ur kickstand switch or neutral switch

I thought you said that it would go into gear at idle but not as its moving.

let me say, it is NOT your kickstand safety.
If it was your kickstand safety switch then the bike would shut off as soon as you put it into gear.
but as you said, it runs in all gears, but its just when you start moving that it shuts off.
make sure your clutch is properly adjusted and that your giving enough gas as you release the clutch slowly.
and like I said, take a look at your main jets and see if they are clogged.
just do an overall check up, make sure there is not any loose connections.
but most of all, make sure your clutch is adjusted properly and check the carbs and see if they need cleaning (jets included)
your best bet would also be to take it to a pro.
I brought my bike for my clutch problem and he noticed that I was only running on 3 cylinders and he fixed it for me for free, AND he adjusted my clutch properly FOR FREE.

Dude if you read his post he states it is dying when he puts it in gear. It IS most likely your kickstand safety switch. Unplug it and on the plug on wire harness side there are two wires in the connector. cut a 2 inch piece of wire and jump the two wires in the connector and try to start it and put it in gear. If it doesnt die it was your kickstand safety switch. If it still dies look elsewhere. I would check the neutral switch next

Yup sidestand, I went out again last night to mess with it so that solves that problem. Still drags down to idle slowly when it's in motion, when it's just sitting there drops right to normal idle. I made a right turn off the main road yasterday it was like road speed put the rpms up and tried to counter my deceleration, kinda lurching. This all has happend since replacing the fuel seals between the carbs. Looking at buying a set of syncro sticks tomorrow just gotta be sure to get 6mm adapters.
They're definitly out of sync now so I figure it's a good starting point. I'll see how it runs after that. It does smell a little rich so I let it set with the key on for several minutes not running to see if the pump would "tick tick" I figured if a needle or float was the culprit it would loose a little pressure after several minutes and the fuel pump would cycle a couple times. It never does and the overflows never get anything in them. Hopefully the sync job will tell the tale.
Shoulda done the seals last time I had the carbs apart but MAN all those tiny parts add up when you're in there. The 6 little rubber sleeves where $40 this time. About a month ago I spent about $70 going thru them. 7 months before that was a quickie cleaning and bowl seals right after I bought it I think it was $45 or so then. However, the results are usually worth it. I'm gonna give them a quick cleaning this wkend as well.
