Who has Pod's and Exhaust? What size main jet?

Post by 1BadFZR600 »

I just ordered K&N Pods and I had 118 mains in and went to 130 then 134...Its still lean...I may need 140's? Thats alot compaired to stock 107....But the Pod's dont create a vacuum(PULL) and you have to up the main to compensate. What size main is in yalls bike who has Pods and full flowing exhaust?....Thanks

What jet kit are did you go with? I just put in FactoryPro stage 3 and started with the 117.5 with a full Yoshi system. I think Nate is running 128's but that's the biggest I've ever seen before.

the mains don't do anything at WOT. That's where the needles play the roll. You need adjustable needles. I'm running a full 4-2-1 exhaust, twin pods, flo-commander, ford coil pack with .040(I think) plug gap, and dyno jet kit without the slides drilled. I've got 128's I think and my needle position is wrong. I haven't bothered to get in there yet cause it runs well around town and that's most of what I'm doing these days. My top end bogs but since I don't ever really flog the bike I hardly notice it. 135 is WAY too big. You need to work on the needles. They kick in around 7.5k

Mains do most of the fuel metering at full throttle above 7.5k, have a read of CV carb tuning on the factorypro website. They do also effect the fuel metering at other parts of the rev range to a lesser extent at WOT. Think of the needles as valves as to how far open the main jets are, when the needle is all the way up its getting close to full flow, when the slides and needle are only part way up at say 6.k its getting partial flow.

maybe this graphic will help some, but yes the mains are all WOT

As far as rich and lean, there is such a thing as a rich stumble with too big a main..lean should feel reluctant to take throttle, or more throttle, but a huge main will also cause a stumble, like a false rev limit...id see about a dyno tune
