Re: WHAT MOD DID YOU GET THE MOST GAIN WITH?
when I jumped up 400ccs and got my FZR 1000 that was the best gain
otherwise I had a nice gain with a stage 3 jet kit, pods, flo-commander and a full V and H exhaust on my 600

Re: WHAT MOD DID YOU GET THE MOST GAIN WITH?
A 660 conversion will definitely add the most hp as long as it's done properly.
Depends on what you want your bike to do. If you're looking for WOT all the time, then choose PODs with a Stage 3 or 7 Jet Kit and a Full Exhaust.
If you want streetability and some hp gains, then choose a K&N Filter, Stage 1/3 Jet Kit and an aftermarket exhaust (Full or Slip-on).
For good streetability and more hp, choose a YZF600 engine with a Jet Kit. Ram it with air and make sure to have some type of full exhaust. (This is what I'm working on.)

Re: WHAT MOD DID YOU GET THE MOST GAIN WITH?
Flo-commander makes adjusting the carbs much easier. It adds a constant and consistent amount of air for better tuning.
However, if you want to go fast you need to work on suspension. My R1 front end is the best upgrade I've done hands down. My shift kit was next. People always want more horsepower and forget about the things like stopping all that horsepower or controlling it in a curve. All that horsepower does no good if you can't keep the tires on the ground.
Beyond that, I've got a stage 3 jet kit, flo-commander, full exhaust, ford coil pack for better spark and pods. She pulls enough for me. Sure my friends 919 was a hell of a lot faster but it scared the crap out of me once and I know for a fact I don't need that kind of power. City riding doesn't warrant it. My fizz gets 50mpg and is still very fun to ride. New R6 gets 35 if you're lucky and an R1...don't know but I would guess less than that.
A YZF motor with all the above mentioned upgrades would probably be pretty quick. Add a powerpak and it should be damn fun.

Re: WHAT MOD DID YOU GET THE MOST GAIN WITH?
The best friend of my girlfriends father recently started riding a 2007 Kawi ZX14 that I get to ride every now and then (I've also riden a Busa few times as well). Last week while him and the old man were sleeping off the afternoon beers, I took the ZX out for the longest and most spirited ride I'd ever been on with this bike. Keep in mind this a 170+HP fuel injected bike with a very sensitive TPS. Had enough room to hit 155mph in 5th (yeah 5th) gear was able to take it through some mild twisties as well. Then to gain some sort of comparision, I went back home and then did the same route on the old man's (bike was mine until recently) 2006 Kawi Z750S (hit 135 in 6th gear). Side note: I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a fan of the sensitivity and "twitchyness" of Kawasaki's EFI systems at slow speeds. Thirdly, did the same route on my 92 FZR (and hit 120 in 6th).
What did I conclude from this? That a lot horsepower and a bigger bike doesn't always mean better. My stock engined, and lowered, FZR out handled the other 2 bikes on the twisties and was still fast enough to scare me on an open road. Going by the comparison you are making, will you ever match the speed and power of a CBR 900RR with mods to an FZR? Yeah, if you somehow shoehorn 900rr motor into the FZR frame. Thinking realistically the mods mentioned in addition to maybe some head porting work will get you power gains but what also needs to be considered is tires and suspension-which has been mentioned as well. What good is all that power when you can't keep the rear wheel behind and/or under you? Don't get me wrong. The CBR 900rr is a great bike but so is the FZR600. A few weeks ago I was ready and set to replace my FZR with a bigger bike and the 929rr was on my list. Did a little more work on my FZR and got to ride some bigger engined and faster bikes and I gained more appreciation for what I already had. Mod your bike out and set up the suspension to your liking and you'll be able to hand someone on a 900rr (or equivalent) their ass in the corners on the track or on nice twisty road. Sorry for the long post. Just wanted you to know that some else understands your "pain".

Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Re: WHAT MOD DID YOU GET THE MOST GAIN WITH?
Yeah, for that many more horses, see my siggy below... (doh!)
otherwise i'd say definitely upgrade front and rear suspension for more control. What is power without control. To me it means no confidence in corners therefore no speed.
I usually don't push it anyway, just because of cars, cops and other moving objects like deer that can be unpredictable, sometimes loose gravel too.
I say do TK's R6 header conversion and get a nice pipe like the FMF i got, see ThatKid's section for details / pictures. Definitely increases midrange power.

Re: WHAT MOD DID YOU GET THE MOST GAIN WITH?
Well, hell, all you need is a 49 or 50 tooth rear sprocket (keeping your 14 tooth front) to do that...1BadFZR600 wrote:I just wanna get to 100mph in the shortest amount of time.....And pop some wheelies
You'll be popping wheelies and hitting 100 in no time. Course, you'll top out at 124 mph or so, but that's probably fast enough for the ole Fizzer...
