Clutch Master Cylinder (pic)

Post by Yamaha Bandit »

I need to replace my clutch master cylinder on my 1989 FZR 1000. I found a replacement on ebay at a good price but it was from a 1991 FZR 1000. So I contacted the dealer and they told me that the my replacement will fit my bike. Part numbers are the same. Great!! So I purchased the replacement but noticed that the writing on the side of my replacement is different that the writing on the master cyclinder that is currently on my bike. As you can see in the pic that's what's listed on that my replacement clutch master cylinder but what is listed on my bike is ( 1 3 V 3 5/8). I'm confused, should the numbers and letters match?? The only thing that matches is the (5/8). The assembly looks identical too.

Thanks for any feedback guys.

Here is another pic of a clutch master cylinder off of a 1989 FZR 1000. And again the alpha-numeric listing is different. Can anyone shed some light on this??

the 5/8 is the important bit as thats the diameter of the inner bore. That will dictate whether it works with your system or not. As long as the bore is the same you'll be fine
