Found 750

Post by sh0rty77 »

Hey guys i just found a FZR750 in a friends shed, been sitting in bits for 10+yrs.
Wondering if any1 knows how many of these were brought into Australia?
He told me that only around 50 were brought in, wondering if theres any truth to that.
Also whats pros/cons between 600 and 750.
First thing i noticed is the Ali chassis like the 1000.

Thanks fellas.

There weren't a lot of street 750's in production period. More likely to see a race version than an actual street version. Australia only getting 50 of them is highly doubtful. I'm sure there's more than that still on the road. The chassis should be the same as the 1000 with the only difference being that the motor and wiring are specific to 750 (if memory serves). The biggest pro the 600 has over the 750/1000 is it's lighter and a bit more nimble. The pro with the 750/100 is they have more power.

If memory serves there were only 750 of these made world wide to get past some class race rules(?)
so 50 in Oz seems ok.

This bike was a race bike :yutugh2:
Thanks for the info guys.
So i guess that only 750 bikes ever made parts are hard to come by.
Or are most part from the 1000 interchangeable?
Wondering if its worth trying to pick up.
IF there are a few here looking for part i may grab it to part out.

It depends on what FZR750 you are talking about. If it's an 87-88 Genesis then yeah a lot of the Genesis 1000 parts interchange. If it's an 89 FZR750RR OW01 (which would explain the notion of only 50 going to australia) then swapping in a 1000 motor would be futile as that was basically a racebike with lights to make it legal for street use. Although, I think 89 and on EXUP 1000 parts will swap over.
