FZR750 parts from other FZRs

Post by acidfire52 »

Hey guys,

I am looking at a 1989 FZR750 for sale locally here for cheap. It needs, fairings, guages, headlights. Can I get those parts off of the FZR1000? If it is not a 0W01 it is basically a 1000 with a smaller engine right?

I saw one guage on ebay for a 750, for $99, expensive.

Thanks
Ash

The 1k looks close enough to match the 750 that if the fairing don't work, they should be close enough to make them work. Same thing for the headlight. I think the gauges will be different. Usually it would be the same except for the tach. The two engines have different timing and rev to different RPM so that would disqualify the gauges.

If it is the only gauge you can find, then I would say that $99 is not that bad of a price. Just remember that while trying to find a deal, beggers can't be choosers.

Thanks guys.
Now are all '89 750s 0W01s? or was there a FZR750 and a FZR750R in '89?
It seems the FZR750 had a 18" rear tire and the 0W01 had a 17.

Thanks a lot

Got some pics? The FZR750 did have an 18" rear wheel. The OW01 did have a 17". But the two really can not be mistaken for each other.

If you did manage to get a OW01, parts will be very hard to come by. Not exactly expensive considering, but just hard to come by. Also, what part of the world are you in? The OW01 was only sold to people with racing licenses or teams here in the States (when they were new) so not too many of them as compared to the rest of the world.

Also, nothing from a FZR750 or FZR1000 will work on a OW01.

Did you load the correct picture? Because what you have posted there is a FZR600.

The person selling is a moron. It is a FZR600. For the price, it is a good find as long as it really does run. The other parts it is missing are not too expensive either. The fairings will cost the most to get for it.

acidfire if you buy this make sure the vin# on the title match's the one on the steering stem , he may have a title to 750 frame and not to the bike in the pic, as he says he has the title from the owner before him
