Hi. I have a 1985 FZ750/1000 HYBRID I built around 1993...
I just bought back my 1985 FZ750 that I put a 1988 1000....
motor, carbs, wheels and brakes on back in 1993 or so...
A friend bought it new and rode it on a few track days.
He sold it to another friend a few years later and then I bought it from him.
I had sold my 1990 FZR1000 to buy a snowmobile and go ice racing so I was bikeless...
I bought it in a pile as an unfinished project from my buddy
and finished it. Mounting the 1000 calipers to the forks was the hardest part.
I campaigned this bike to great success on the streets and won more than my fair share of $$$ with it...
I sold it to buy a ZX-11 and run that. (The FZ would pull on a stock ZX-11 in a roll race )
I cannot remember what kind of power it made on 4&6's dyno in Chicago but I know it was there for tuning.
It also went 10.50's @131-133mph. with my 145lb. but on it. Stock ride height--stock arm.
Not bad fer a lil' ol' 750 back then..
Anyway in a strange fateful way I was driving down a sidestreet on my way home from work and I spotted a huge gold rotor/ red wheel combo between a garage and junk car.
I thought.."Is it????"
IT WAS IT!!!
I went and bought it back that day for $600 not running and with some sort of MAJOR electrical issue....
Here is where it gets good...
If you hook up the battery the headlight goes on, the tach goes up and the neutral light goes on... ALL WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION!
If you turn off the kill switch I believe the neutral light goes off...
I have since found the cause of the short (2 alt. wires were melted together inside the connector) have pulled it apart and now I am cleaning the carbs. I HOPE IT STARTS!
I will also need to rebuild the 5speed trans as it was jumping in 2nd when I sold it and I'm sure it hasn't healed itself...
It's ugly but it would cut 1.7 60's on a 160 Sportmax!!!
I'll get some pics as I can...

I'd be posting some pics but the wife has the camera in Florida. She will return Thurs.
Pulled the carbs this evening and to my surprise I must've drained the gas when I got it! The float bowls are clean, clean, clean!
I'll remove all the jets tomorrow night and soak them in carb cleaner for a few days.
This dinosaur is gonna come back to life pretty easily!
I've got a 1988 1000 trans in a box I'm gonna to send to "Fast by Gast" as soon as I ride the bike to confirm it still runs well.
This time I'm gonna do some basic head cleanup when I swap the trans out and I may even do some cams if budget allows...
I would like to get the thing into the 10.30's with a 1.7 60'.
That way I'll be right with an average jock on a 'busa out here. If they put me out 10 and gimme the bust!?!
I haven't seen any 'busa's go single digits out here (stock arm) but I only get to the track 2-3 times a year anymore.
Most guys are scared of them.

Welcome!! It's not everyday that I see another FZ 750/FZR 1000 project. Good luck getting it running. It would be great to hear how you did the FR calipers as well as your fitup of the rear wheel on the 750 swingarm. I just posted today on getting the FZR swingarm and shock to fit. Did you machine the RR caliper bracket? Looking forward to some pics. As you can see, posting here without pics is a VERY serious offense!!! It's all good, take care... Kevin. Oh yeah, here's a few pics.

First off; Nice Bike! Keep the pictures coming!
Here's an example
I have one that I'm gonna try to fit on my 1997 FZR600; though so far it's only successfully been installed on FZR400's to my knowledge (some difference in the front birdcage).
Basically the bolt in the middle attaches to a mount centered on the front of the steering head and attaches to one of the fork legs via aftermarket fork clamp.
It's a custom job (like most things on our older yamahas) but you could try to install a GSXR or Hayabusa Steering Stabilizer.nickate wrote:THANKS! I'll delete my crummy ones!
