1988 FZR 750 - has come a long way

On the later 1000 unit the frame slots over a banana shaped bracket that fixes to the headstock.
This bracket has slotted mounts for adjustment.
Is your front mounting the same ?
On the 1K unit the slotted holes are not immediately evident as the frame slots over it ,shielding the slots from view and it just looks like a fixed mount.

I will check, thanks, that's great info. Haven't seen it but didn't take anything off the bike in the front.
The front fairing parts are, according to parts books, the same. So hopefully I can squeeze the missing quarter of an inch out of there.

Hmm, not sure.
Even if the top part can be adjusted, thereally is a second attachment right below which does not seem to be adjustable.

I'll check later tonight if I have some wiggle room when loosening both

The top is behind the clutch line, you can see the bottom one though.

Just swapped sub frame. The old one had the handles cut off.
Tail is finally straight and side covers fit much better.

Haven't looked into front stay yet.

Does anyone know what the small nipples are for?

So I checked the nose stay/bracket and it is not adjustable.
I started to take off the one on my spare bike and will compare with the one that's on my bike.
There has to be a difference and hopefully I can get 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch more out of it.
Just a bit involved to remove everything on the finished bike.
Hoping to do it over the next few days.

Alrighty, I took off the front stay and compared. They are the same, no bends and nothing.
I seem to be able to make the sides fit by leaving the bottom front fairing nuts very lose so I can push it forward a bit.
So I think I will finish up putting the heat shield inside the fairings. Once done, I am going to attach them to the lose nose fairing and as a last step, I will tighten those nose fairing nuts.
This should work. Just need to check how lose the headlight will sit in there and if it affects the light beam (in theory it should point upwards a bit more)

Thanks. Well, not a true 750 anymore because of the 1000cc engine in it. But can imagine them being fun as hell on a race track.
