first bike :) gas leaking from carbs now :(

well i just got my first bike. and you guessed it, its a fzr600 :) lemme know what ya think!

it is a 1995

just got back from the auto store. bought some black header paint. the headers where starting to get discolored. any prep suggestions or should i just spray it?

read through the forum. i think i will take the paint back. ill run it this season, then prolly have them ceramic coated or buy a newer one. any suggestions on makers for aftermarket headers?

im also noticing not many other bikes have the "air induction tubing" mine does? i dont see many with the hoses that go from the frame to the front?

how come?

Wow Congrats!! But be careful you might get radiation poisoning from that bike!

*As far as the induction tubing: While it does bring air to the air intake, it is really more for cooling of the Frame and Seat. It certainly is not a real 'Ram Air' setup or anything... -A few other 90's bikes had them.

This is your first bike; so are you learning how to ride a motorcycle on it?

i have rode dirtbikes and enduros as a kid. im learning how to ride a sportbike on it :) i took alot of the stickers off also. i love the color flourecent yellow and black scheme but the multiple stickers isnt quite what i have in mind. only stickers on it now are the yama logo and fzr \m/

i also noticed it has a small fuel leak. after it has sat allnight. there is fuel on the petcock. im goingto replace the petcock asap. any suggestions on petcock/upgrade/ certain retailer/sealant etc.?

Have u checked all the fuel lines and connections.....the lines can go hard over time and get small splits and the leak could be anywhere and just running down onto the petcock.....pull the tank and have a good look and feel and also see if the clamps are doing their job.

That bike looks very different, I like bikes that are different.

An fzr as a first bike is always a good thing in my opinion. Makes any bike after much easier to live with. I think I've seen yours before. I wanna say the previous owner is a member here. No matter. Enjoy. :shocker

thanx guys :)

ends up its leaking from the carb closest to the shifter. any problem areas on these i should know about? also, what is the large black "base" the carbs sit on. the leaky carbs "base" looks cracked.
