FZR600 engine rebuild - basic questions

Hey guys,
To give some background on what I'm doing: In mid/late April I was out looking a for a bike (recently sold my 08 R6) I wanted some thing cheap and modifiable... So I stumble across this 95 FZR600 - running but its clutch wouldn't disengage so it hadn't been driven in about 6 months plus over the winter it took a fall and was a little banged up. Turns out the ball bearing was welded to the short pushrod and the long push rod was actually in two pieces. I replaced these parts and some other things (clips on, levers, etc) and put a couple hundred kilometers on it in no time. Then I lost my clutch again. Turns out the left side bearing on the mainshaft has about .020"-.025" of play in it and was actually snapping the long pushrod. Great. So I decide I need to give the thing a rebuild (it was lacking power and under full throttle it was burning oil like no other) and fix the transmission all in one go.
Last night I took the engine out and started tearing it down. But then I noticed that on my cam caps it says "1WG" - Isn't that the designation for the FZR400? Is this normal?
The reason that this stuck so much out to me is that when I went to register it something very fishy was going on with the VIN.. The original VIN was gone and it had a replacement VIN, however, the title was not branded as rebuilt or theft recovery. Upon taking the fairings off the bike I found that where the stock data sticker was gone and in its place was a provincial (I'm in Canada) plate with the new VIN number on it.
Thanks for the help.
