front turn signal wiring

i just recently had a wire fry on my front turn signals and now i am in the process of looking for new signals but in the mean time i need to know how to wire them up when i get them. i have 3 wires coming from the harness and i know one of them has constant power but the other doesn't seem to have power to it. i tried to test it with my meeter but right now it is showing that my signals are burning steady even if i put it to left or right turn. does any one know how they should be wired and also where i can get a decent set of signals and not spend a arm and leg for them.

Blue wire - running light, constant on with switch
Black wire - ground
Brown or Green wire - signal light, controlled by the signal relay, colour depends on Left or Right (I forget which is which)

new signals came in today. i have a slight problem with the wiring though. i cant seem to figure out which wire it takes to make it flash. it works as a steady light right now but i need a front signal.

If the brake element in the bulbs failed, then yeah - you'd have tailights but no brake lights. Unplug both bulbs, then check for +12v across the black and yellow wires with / without each switch actuated. If you have no power with one switch or the other, check that switch.
What MAY be happening, and is often mistaken for "no brake light," is that one switch or the other is stuck ON, leaving the brake lights permanently on; if nothing / no change happens when you hit the brake lever or pedal, the immediate conclusion is that the lights aren't working, right? The back brake lever switch is famous for this, as it has to be carefully adjusted if/when you adjust the brake lever height. It will also stick in its own right, gummed up inside with mung and crud.

just incase it isnt the bulbs that are causing it not to work. where are the front andrear brake switches located at on the bike. i just printed the diagram off so i am hoping not to have to pull everything apart and start tracing wires out. i hate that crap.

They're cleverly hidden where you'd never think to look - the front brake switch is tucked in beside the front brake lever, and the rear brake switch is the big silly-looking black plastic thing beside the rear brake pedal, with the wire hook.

i wasnt thinking when i asked that question. i hadnt looked for them then. but im glad you pointed them out. saved me some time. i found them and they both had something wrong with them. the front had a busted wire and the rear the stud had went further down in the keep on it and when i pressed on the brake it wasnt pulling the switch. but i now have all working lights and signals. thank you don you saved me hours of work when it was really a 15 minute job.
