FZR 600 Exhaust 1990

Hello all, I am new to the forum and wondered if there were any good exahusts to swap for the standard FZR exhaust. There doesn't seem to be a lot of people that do an exhaust as they say the bike is 'too old'. Has anyone found a nice rear can that will fit? If so would love to hear. Thanks in advance.

You dont have to look for fzr cans, if you measure the outside diameter of your link pipe of the exhaust (if memory serves me right its 52mm) you can then just look for exhausts that have 52mm inlet opens. This is of course if you have non standard headers. If your headers are standard look at either getting the r6 headers or some stainless ones of ebay and measure the outlet and then get a can that'll fit.

yea. As far as Muffler you can fit any slip on that is the correct diameter.

Most Common is the Vance and Hines SS2 slip on.
But my buddy has a D&D slipon that sounds SICK, but is expensive! I basically hate him because of it...
But my Vance and Hines sounds really nice, much better than stock.

If you have the FZR600 Genesis (non-exup) then you could do alot worse than these stainless dekelvic headers for £140

Consider the slip on exhausts from Delkevic. This is their UK website:

Their customer support is great and the exhaust is quality made...

Now that i am looking at these Delkevic Carbon Fiber cans, i'm thinking maybe that's what my buddy has... Hmmm, i'll have to see if there is any identifying marks on his muffler. Whatever it is it sounds great, and i would recommend it highly.

Less expensive than the D&D ones i mentioned before...

Many thanks to everyone's replies. I think i am going to have to get some new headers for the bike by the looks of it, I think the outlet of the exhaust where the can would fit is about 63mm or somewhere in that region at the moment. Those Delkevic headers look great. Still have a lot of work to do on my bike, was hoping to also do the R6 rear end conversion at some stage too. Just want to make it look as nice and sound as nice as possible. Anyone attempted the R6 conversion yet?

Out of curiosity, is there a specific year of the R6 headers that i need to be looking for that will fit my bike? Many Thanks

YZF headers won't work because the motor mounts at a different angle (FZR motor is angled more forward). Basically, the pipes won't clear the oil pan because they will be angle too far upward.

BTW, maybe head over to the Welcome / Introduction section to tell us a bit about yourself and the bike?

Actually, the YZF will bolt on direct.

I was under the impression that the angle between the downpipes and the collector was more acute than the FZR since the YZF motor sits more upright. Help me to understand how this works? :whistle

No idea but I've done it. In fact I have another yzf600 header in the shop right now I can check again tomorrow. Snap some pictures too.

Yeah, I actually just remembered a little while ago that RoadDogma was selling a YZF D&D system and had pics of the headers mounted to his YZF600 powered 400. Weird...

Here's a link to the pic:
