i just lowered my American 95 fzr 600 and now need to shorten the stand. i am going to have it cut down a little and re-welded back together but my welder asked me a very important question and i do not know the answer to it and can not seem to find it. does any one know what the side stand on a 95 fzr 600 for the Americas is made of. he is concerned about it being cast and harder to weld on vs just out of steel stock.

It's forged steel.

Should be a very easy weld. ER71Flux core.....70xx rod, Er 71 hard wire....it's all good.

Bevel each part for half diameter and use flux core-it's full pen and as strong or stronger than the base metal.

that's what i was hopping for. makes it a lot easier. ill put pix up after i get it cut down and put back on. am kinda scared to park it anywhere because it is almost completely vertical so it wouldnt take much to knock it over at this point.
