found some 14volt 4.3 watt bulbs, old ones were 12volts and 1.7 watts does it hurt to use these ones?

On my FZR250 i had to change the tacho backlight bulb, was happy to put the cheap one in until I realised it was half as bright as the ??year old original one in the speedo.

When I then had to replace all of the backlights in my 3HE (yes they had all blown :headscratch: ) I fitted genuine yammy ones. I replaced all the idiot lights aswell for good measure as my indicator and high beam dash lights had blown. All the ones that were blown were cheap 12V 5W jobbies. There are 4 clock backlight bulbs but one of them is half the size of the others, it's for the trip and odometers I think. All are 12V 1.7W, the idiot lights from memory are 3.4W?

The bigger ones are 161or 194 automotive bulbs and the smaller one in the bottom of the speedometer is a 37 or 74. I replaced mine with LED lights and I got 194 for the bigger ones and a 74 for the smaller one in the speedometer. I think I paid around 1.29 each for single LED , so much cheaper than the Yamaha OEM normal bulbs. The single LED are just as bright as the normal Yamaha bulbs and I'll probably never have to replace them in my life time. If you want brighter LED then you'd have to go with a Multi LED. I got mine from http://www.superbrightleds.com

So am I right in thinking that the LED ones from that site will just screw in without needing to do any soldering or anything?
