its hard to get the bike to start and when it does it dies as soon as you put it in gear. i rode the bike once and it kept dying i had to turn it off and back on

Sounds like you have a few things going on there. The hard-to-start could be carbs, or it could be tight intake valves - insufficient clearance means the valves don't seal, you lose cranking compression, and the bike doesn't start. The "shuts off immediately" could be carbs (again), improperly adjusted clutch, or a bad connection in the safety system (probably the side-stand switch).

Pull, strip and clean the carbs, including a bench synch.
Adjust the clutch.
Check the valve lash.
Check the function and security of the sidestand switch and connector.

Should take you a lazy weekend with a friend and a few cold beverages of choice.

i cleaned the carbs, tuned them, bypassed the kickstand switch, now it just dies on the interstate but runs good threw town?

THAT is a clogged tank vent. Pull and clean the little passages in your gas cap.

Same thing - the issue is the vacuum being drawn down, not the shape of the tank.

ok vacuum lines are cleaned and still doing it, its almost like its the coils. i was reading about swapping the coils and i noticed mine are not stock but not escort or that type of coil?

problem fixed it was 2 crossed wires. wow this bike runs!!!

Do you mean coil wires or something else.
