how hard would it be?

I was thinking about converting to a hydraulic clutch for no reason in particular other than "cool factor". i think i remember reading about someone doing this a while ago and modkings name was mentioned. does this sound familiar to anyone? what would i need?

Yep, Modking makes an adaptor plate the takes the place of the sprocket cover. What you would need to buy is the hydraulic clutch cylinder (complete including piston, handle, and resivoir), the clutch slave cylinder, and a clutch line. Plus the plate from him. He did mine (I think everyones) using Ducati parts. I'm not sure if others could be used, but it doesn't seem too dificult to swap some items with other manufacturers if need be. I'll e-mail him tonight and see if I can get him over here.

Hi,
Just be sure unlike one system I saw that had been put together that the slave cylinder nipple was vertical and at 12 o'clock to make bleeding the system that much easier. My usual speach about having a bleed nipple on the top reservoir is well known to all by now and is the business for quick set ups.
Kevlar covered s/steel is good as some of the clutch line runs tied to hot oil pipes etc.
Ducati bits are nice cheap & small where as Hondo bits tend to be bulkier.

I've got one and have had no problems with it. I'll be pulling mine off the 600 frame and putting it on the 400 when I get it going. Oh one more thing to powdercoat.

The most expensive part is the MC. The slaves are like 50 bucks or so but a ducati MC, I think I paid about 130 for mine. It had to come from overseas (spain) because I couldn't find one in the states so shipping kinda added to the cost. I got the stock ducati braided line for about 10 bucks on ebay. Just depends on if you can wait for a good deal to pop up.

I bought it from modking although I will be designing a a different one that will include a cover for the sprocket I think. I started on it awhile ago but I just have so many ideas and never enough time to finish all the designs.

i forget who did it, but someone on here did it with ducati mastercylinder from one bike and a ducati slave cylinder from a different bike, i just remember that they were both 900 series duc's..don't know exactly what.

That would be Cad600 (scroll up and look at his sig). Although I think ThatKid's setup is similar in nature and involves Ducati parts.

hah! thats funny, he already replied, oh well, at least that says i have a good memory, and I almost typed ducati 996 and 999 but didn't want to lead someone the wrong way..

Using a Honda slave (hence my comment about bulky earlier) & a brembo pair of Master cylinders.
Ducati Master cylinders (in fact most if not all their hydraulics ) are made by Brembo.

Over here if you see Brembo on ebay it is someone trying to bump the asking price if it says ducati it is usually cheaper. I also have a pal (bike-enders007 ) who deals in Ducati spares on Ebay but he will not sell overseas so if you see his goods call me I will organise as I do for the other seas lads & lasses
