FZRSupport: the FZROnline Archive

Well, the speedometer on the FZR has been broken since I got it, so I found a nice replacement. Trail Tech makes an all-in-one gauge called the Vapor that is great. I just got back from calibrating its speed sensor using a radar operated speed sign set up down the street. Seems accurate enough... This thing is really great so far!
It was a really easy install as well. Anyone else use one of these on any of their rides?

Can you post a little more info on it. Id like to check it out.

ive got one for the race bike, but havent fitted it, did you just wrap the wire around on of the ht leads of find a better way of doing it? any halp much appreciated!

Does the newer vapor have an odometer that counts up and keeps memory?? Mine would reset when I would reset the trip. So I never knew how miles were on the bike.

Are you referring to the tach? If so, then yes. I wrapped it around the #1 cylinder wire 5 times, taped it, and it's working great. Mirrors what the FZR stock tach was putting out before I disconnected it.
Tonight I am going to set up the shift points and the temperature warnings.

Concerning the ODO, yes mine does. It has a permanent ODO that doesnt reset, and then the trip odo that will when you hold the appropriate keys. However, it doesnt have a way to set what your old odometer has, so you will have an odometer discrepancy if you are only using it for your mileage. More info on it here:

Tells you everything about what it is and isnt capable of doing. I'm streetfightering mine, so it seemed the best way to go so I could remove the stock nose piece.

The backing is well lit, and everything is easily readable for me at a glance. Didn't see any other posts about it so i figured I'd post up my experience/s with it for future searches.

Thanks for the info. I've been looking at these and im glad I know now that someone has tried it and is happy.

Oh, one last thing.
For setting the speedometer, I have mine set at 1810mm with a pirelli sport demon running stock front tire size. Should get anyone else in the ballpark with a similar setup

How do you feel this thing will hold up to the elements? I know they have the additional cover/idiot light option, but I thought I could wire up some cheap LED/resistors from radio shack with a custom aluminum mount.

Also, did you chose the model with for the generic forks, water cooled?

Its help up through the rain just fine so far. I'm a year round rider, so it's getting put through the best and worst the weather has to offer here in Georgia. Its' supposed to hold up to the elements fairly well from what I have read. I did put dielectric grease in the connectors to keep them from getting corroded, but I probably should look it over better and seal up any areas that look like potential leak spots with silicone.
