Spark plug boots..........

I know the spark plugs that are called for on these bikes are resister type, the plug boot is also a resister type, my question: is there supposed to be this much resistance in the system? Seems to be a bit of over kill. trying to trace down weak sparks. I have trimmed back the wires to get to fresh inner wires, done a continuity check on all wires...and have found one of the boots to have a OPEN resistance.

Yeah 10k ohms is overkill, NGK do a replacement 5k plug cap (boot) which is fine. However I opened my caps and replaced the faulty resistors with a short length of 3 mm welding rod, after all the resistors are only there to help reduce radio interference nothing more.
