Raptor 660 Voltage Reg for the FZR

Any feedback available on using a VR from the Yamaha Raptor 660/700 '01-05 models as an "upgrade" to the FZR stock unit?
I saw a post on here somewhere from a guy recently who did it and said was working great so far. Any others try this?
They are going as cheap as $10 on ebay as opposed to YZF/R6 units that start around $40 plus shipping etc.
