FZR600 Plug Wire Issue - Coils

Post by briansorrell »

Aloha from Hawaii. I have a 93 FZR600 and was wondering if it is ok to have the plug wire, the wire coming from the coil to the spark plug cap, not firmly attached in the plug cap boot ? And if this is not good how can i connect the wire ? I did have it running today put I just had the wire from the coil stuffed into the boot of the spark plug cap. Oddly enough, one of the cylinders was not firering 100% (header pipe was just a little warm) and this was from a plug wire that was attached firmly to the coil. Thank you for your time.

Is the boot worn out or broken where it connects? Bikebandit sells NGK boots for a couple bucks a piece if needed. The boot should have a pin in it where the wire connects to(almost looks like a small screw) and the wire just pushes in and is secured with a rubber sleeve. If you have enough slack you may try trimming the wire back a little bit and reseating it in the boot.
