I can idle my new bike

And that's it. The moment I touch the throttle it dies. Suggestions on what to check first? I'll be tearing into the carbs later in the week, but is there anything else I can check?

On a side note, the gaskets above and below the head look new so I'm really hoping there are pistons in there.

The carb boots look brand spanking new...no cracks..nothing. It's running single K&N pods on each and it idles at about 500 without me messing with the idle cable. It does hunt though. My guess is gunky carbs but I was really hoping to not have to tear into them just yet.

That idle seems pretty low.

Really dirty carbs, way to much airflow with incorrect jets or timing. I bet the carbs just need to be cleaned and possibly check the floats.

Yeah that idle is extremely low for pods. I have my idle set to about 1200rpm. Does it still die once you turn the choke up?

Yeah I needed chose to start it and about 6-7 times it started, revved up, then died. Finally got it to stay running but no ability to touch the throttle. I went out and bought the Gunk carb dunk system thing and cleaned the crap out of the carbs. They were pretty bad and the needles had some serious crap on them. One of the diaphragms was a pain to get to slide too. I'll hopefully get them put back together tomorrow and see if I can run it. The emulsion tubes looked fine so that's a plus. The cases were missing some screws so I'll need to get some and the guy did not do the best job of drilling out the brass plugs for the mixtures screws so I'll probably have to fix that too.

If that fixes it I'll be able to go for a spin on it around the neighborhood and see how she handles.

I thought you were going to use that new bike for parts ? Are you planning on making it a legal running bike again and selling it ?

(EDIT: Don't answer that, i just read your other thread where you explained it already) Sounds like a good plan to me. How is that little 80cc chopper coming along ?

Sorry I've been to bike night again. Fargin' squid festival, I didn't hang around long. 954RR likes to BREATHE. I did a nice slingshot maneuver. God damn she's fast! (you know the old slingshot maneuver..... 2 staggered cars + 1 super-squid, hahahahaha)(it must be catching, or I'm really getting pissy after not having jumped the MX bike in a month)
