looking to put a new set of tires on the front and rear of my 95 fzr600. can any one tell me if i can go with a 160 or is a 140 the biggest i can go? any help would be appriciated.

150 is the sweet spot.

Look into Bridgestone BT-016 or Avon AV56 tires.

what ever Tyre you choose just be careful, new tyres STILL have mould release oil/grease on, and when mixed with damp conditions quite lethal. Takes about 150 odd miles of constant use before they are "scrubbed" in & grippy

Yes sir i will. Is there any way that i can do an r6 conversion and put the swing arm from a r6 on my 95. Which would alow me to get the 160 i want?

The YZF600 swingarm swap is the easiest option to get a 17" rim and 160 tire.

i want to try and keep my rim that i have now. i have a 18 on it now. the tire i have on it now is a 140/60/18 and i want to go with a 160/60/18 but looking at it i need a little bit wider swing arm from what i can tell a 160 will fit but be really close. i dont want to chance that. and as far as tires go i am looking at the shinko podiums. idk much about them but they are in my price range that i have right now. has any one delt with shinko before? i dont want to waste money on them and hate them.

oh and speaking of tires i was looking on ebay last night for tires and came across a guy selling a used shinko podium for $10.00 USD up for bid. the manufacture date was (5303) 53 week of 2003 idk if any one knows this or not but i will put it out and i will try and find some where else to put it but tires have a shelf life. 6 YEARS SHELF OR ON CAR. http://www.wisebread.com/are-your-new-t ... time-bombs go to this link please. it explains i work on trailers and we replace them at 4 years! some people try and sell 12 year old tires.

The point is valid as it is one of my concerns with my bike collection back home with about 2 years between rides!
None of my tyres would I consider safe at any speed after 6 years as the tropical heat really dries them out, my wife's little 125 she has not ridden in 12 years has distinct cracks in the sidewall !

I think that your tyre detail is not right, a year has 52 weeks not 53 you may want to look again.

If you want to run 160's then you may want to look at the swing arm choices that I have used and details as to GOTCHA's in the write ups (see the FZR link in my sig )

The other issue is that the stock FZR rim was not intended nor ideal for use with a 160 tire. Plus, if you do the swingarm swap and get the 17" YZF600 rim, not only will you be safer, you'll be sure to have more options down the road as the 18" rim is very limited with tire selection.

Shinko tires are fine as well as you're only riding on the street. I would certainly not trust them in a Track Day environment.

You can run a 150 on the back of an FZR no problem, I've a set of Avon Storm 2 Ultra on mine that work really well. Avon recommend front 110/70ZR17 rear 150/70ZR18. Not as sticky as some but good all round performance in wet and dry, done around 7000 miles on mine to date and about half worn. Only time they have ever given me a scare is when they were cold and on a damp surface.

Yg you are right about the date i ment to hit the 2 and got the 3 insted... guess thats what happens after you have been working all night and decide to do somthing before you get any sleep. But ill look into that artical. And rg appriciate the info on the rim. I havent delt with bikes much so im asking a lot of questions dont want to spend more that i have too. Hell the wife is getting mad i am spending a lot of time on the bike. Just put a dual tone horn on it so now i can be seen and heard

so just got the new set of tires and damn she feels like a completly different bike. got battleaxes front and rear went with the 150 rear and 120 front. not bad price either 209.00 delivered to my door from denniskirk.com. glad i listend to yall and didnt try the 160 i barely have enough room for a 150 it rubs my brake brace on the rear. so looking to do the swingarm swap when i get the money together and want to upgrade to the r6 shock.
