On my way homefrom work tonight, I snapped my throttle cable. No fun when you're going along at 50mph in town traffic. Looks like I need a cable now.

I would agree with that assessment. I'd sell you my used ones, but it's probalby more worth your time to just buy new.

Agreed. Buy some motion pro cables for like 15 bucks with free shipping on eBay. Real quick shipping.

had that happen to me going down the interstate one morning, having friends with trucks is always good. Don't forget to put some lube down both the cables

Finely had the time to remove the cable. The cable was chewed up on the top. Looks like its been that way for a while. I think I am going to check the salvage place in town. If they don't have it, I will order it.

+5 on the new unless you like the workout of pushing your FZR up ramps.

I broke the pull cable, but found the push and pull cables at the motorcycle warehouse in Auburn Maine. The Guy gave me a heck of a deal. 5 dollars on the pair. They were off a 95 far. Very good shape. I had to mod the bracket the push side sits in, but works 100%. Now if I could just get the damn thing started.

J,
has this hard start prob been since the cable broke?
If so you might want to check the carbs are seated correctly and are "Bench" synched with the new cables in place and not stuck closed /open. Just a thought.........................

I had to take the carbs off to mod the bracket for the push cable. Other than that, nothing else has been done to it. Last time it ran was the day my cable snapped. That was over a week ago.

J,
it has been my experience that the "last thing " done before something breaks is the culprit,

you may wanna look in the area you last worked on in case you "disconnected" some wires or those carbs are not sitting as they should

I took everything back apart, cleaned all the contacts, replaced the ground wire, and added one, and put it all back. Still the same slow starter. The red hot wire coming off the battery gets hot while cranking it. While I had it apart I hit the starter wire directly on the battery and it cranks the same. Could the starter be going out? Is there a way to test it?
