Servicing New Bike - Missing Sprocket Nut

Been servicing my recent buy (89 FZR 600) and in order to change the clutch push rod and cable I removed the front sprocket cover. I was really surprised to find that the front sprocket retaining nut and washer were missing. Luckily I had not ridden the bike a lot other than riding it home from the seller's and a couple of short runs to work. I'm very relieved to have found this fault now rather than when I was riding it. I got another nut and washer from a clean bike being broken locally and used a dab of threadlock for added insurance. To be fair to the seller I don't think the sprocket cover had been off for many years so the bike must have been ridden like this for a long time.
I gave everything behind the cover a really good clean and stripped and re-greased the cluth lever assembly which was contaminated with road dirt. I've put a new full EBC clutch kit in today so together with all the other changes I hope to see a big improvement in the performance now.
The forks have new seals and are ready to go back on (got some 15w oil for a bit more stiffness). The front brakes had also started binding but this was due to the hand lever being sticky keeping pressure on, this was freed up with some long overdue oil on the pivot and I cleaned the calipers and pistons while I was at it and they seem fine. The cooling system has been flushed and was surprisingly clean. Just need to do an oil and filter change and it will be ready to use.
All in all the bike seems very sound it's just tired and needs some TLC.
