I'd like to clean my carbs. I saw the piece on the wiki about it. But I was just wondering if anyone has took photos while doing it. Also? What do you clean it with?

the only piece is by Darrin in the WIKI I think but it does need freshning up with more detail so go ahead and take more Photos & text and by all means add it to the WIKI.

Yamaha bulk carb cleaner I have in a big bucket thanks to Allen & George uses old flat coca cola (I kid you not ) he says just be sure do not leave them into long (yamaha's is very strong) and be sure to THOROUGHLY wash them in clean water.

Never ever use welding tip cleaners or wire on jets use nylon fish line instead as it is less abrasive (Geo made my ears ring when he caught me using wire)

Y-Geo. is now off the Grid until I see him shortly

Carbs are fairly easy to clean. The nightmare is taking off the screws... some of them are really stuck, such as the float bowl screws.

Just remember how everything comes out and be careful with anything that is brass, like the jets. It is a soft metal and you can easily damage them.

do you know the author "Michele A Trovero" ? as this page would be good for the WIKI and I know Y-G will not allow a"rip off" but contact the guy to use his stuff.

gkeeper, that was a good page. I think I might just leave it to my mechanic. Gotta have the right toosl for the job and I dont right now. Thanks for the replies all.

I followed these instructions they are very good. the carb cleaning was a LOT easier than I thought. Give it a shot. my olny suggestion would be to use an impact screw driver to break the fuel bowl screws lose. The screws and drain screws are very expensive (with shipping of course) so be careful.
