New guy needing help!!!
ok guys, first thing ill say is im newish to the motorcycle mechanic world. I just bought this '89 fzr 600, and it was in pieces. i have it most of the way put together all except for the front fairing. the problem i am having is that i have the wiring connectors for the lights, blinkers, and tach. coming from the fairing but all i have on the bike side is a 9 wire connector and a 2 wire connector. can someone give me a clue what i am missing here?
i really need help. and the P/O cant tell me anything about this bike.

Heading to the front of the bike, lying bastard Yamaha wiring diagram says you should have:
- 2-pin connector (separate push-on tabs) to the clutch switch (bLue / Yellow, Black / Yellow)
2-pin connector (separate push-on tabs) to the horn (Pink, Black)
9-pin connector to the left switch cluster
3-pin connector to the key switch
9-pin connector to the right switch cluster
- 2x 3-pin H4 connectors to the headlights
2x 3-pin connectors (individual bullets) to the turn signals
6-pin + 9-pin connectors leading to the dash
Good luck!

there's a separate 'short' bit of loom that attaches to the front fairing bracket on the 400, maybe you are missing this bit?

Heading to the front of the bike, lying bastard Yamaha wiring diagram says you should have:You then have a 9-pin and 4-pin connector to the front lighting/signal sub-harness, leading in turn to:
- 2-pin connector (separate push-on tabs) to the clutch switch (bLue / Yellow, Black / Yellow)
2-pin connector (separate push-on tabs) to the horn (Pink, Black)
9-pin connector to the left switch cluster
3-pin connector to the key switch
9-pin connector to the right switch clusterIf you're building this thing as a 'kit' (ahem), you'd probably be well-served to download the manual...
- 2x 3-pin H4 connectors to the headlights
2x 3-pin connectors (individual bullets) to the turn signals
6-pin + 9-pin connectors leading to the dash
Good luck!
thanks don
yeah i am definitely missing some wires somewhere i have all the connectors listed for the front fairing but most definitely not the ones they connect to grr i hate rewiring stuff. maybe the dumba$$ P/O cut some wires out.

bit pressed for time of late (you can read why elsewhere on the Forum) but welcome and as i put rather bluntly in my last post we are quite proud of our WIKI and its wide coverage of things bike orientated re how they work, get fixed, get re-made and tooling & skills needed if you really get into bikes.
If it ain't in the WIKI:- ASK and if no answers then you may just have to write it in for yourself.
As Darrin (the boss) is fond of saying the FZR Online site is for al bikers by bikers of all sorts, (writers & wrenches and wenches :-}
