Question about Hoses on Carb

Just wondering where exactly does the two hose on the Carb go, are do they just hang there... I got a pic below of the hoses im referring to...

Those are your bowl breather vents; I think they are actually routed UP, so the curved ends point down. This prevents water etc from getting in.

I just put the carbs in and I have the breathers facing up, let me go and change it...
