Looking for the easiest way to connect the intake monifold boot to the carb and monifold... I tried just pushing the carb into the boot while the boot was already screwed into the monifold, but it seems as if it want fit... then I tried screwing the boot into the monifold while it was connected to the carb, but the boots will not line up... Any suggestions...

The boots get hard as they get older. One trick is to use a heat gun on the boots to soften them up a bit, which should make it easier for them to connect to the carbs.

I used my finger and wiped engine oil on the inside of the boot, then wiggled the carb assembly into the boots.

Reelrazor has noted that boiling the boots in coolant will soften them and leave them nice for next time. Coolant has conditioners to extend the life of the hoses, and it apparently also works on carb boots.

Might I suggest that the boiling done with LOTS of fresh air, some of those "conditioners" stink when heated and the lady of the house just may object, might not do her any good, but you are likely to hear about it OFTEN LoL
