Raising my FZR 600 back to stock height...

Hi All,

I've recently purchased a 1998 FZR 600 and the previous owner lowered the bike. She (yes...bike was previously owned by a 39 year old female rider) said the front suspension/fork was lowered as well as the rear suspension.

I've recently contacted her to ask if the rear suspension was lowered by adjusting the dampping or was there an aftermarket linkage put on the bike. From my observation, there doesn't seem to be one installed.

That said, does anybody know the specs on raising the fron suspension/fork back to its original position? I can see that the fork was definitely lowered.

Any input from current/previous owners are welcome and appreciated...

Thanks!

can you get someone to measure a set of stock 'dog bones' for you to compare to yours?
generally longer ones are fitted to lower the rear, forks tend to just be dropped through the yokes. Does it handle ok? If it does it would suggest the rear has been adjusted with 'bones as adjusting the damping wouldn't, i don't think give enough lowering without screwing up the ride.

FZR600 3he dog bones = 147mm (5.8”) ctr/ctr holes 12mm dia

You'll want a set of dog bones that length to get the rear back to stock height. Then simply slide the down tubes so they are flush with the top clamp and you're done.

Yeah, clip-ons over clamp, tubes flush with clamp - makes for some pretty floppy control inputs... :drink:

Thanks for your responses...

I've spoke to the previous owner and she (yes she) confirmed that the rear shock links were swaped from an R6 b/c they're shorter. So the only thing I have to do is to raise the front forks to it's original height.

This will prevent the right/left grips from hitting against the fairing.

Will post pics soon...
