hey guys past my test today and took me bike out, all was well til about 5-6 mile and started spluttering, got it home (rode it) and took tank off and seen a kink in the fuel pipe, so i took the bracket off the fuel filter and tie wrapped it up, no more kinks and no more spluttering, happy days but after bout half our of riding when i pull up at some lights bike cuts out when idling, kept riding it and noticed it only does it now and then, but dont have any idea what it could be :-/

R,
Carbs need to be set up to idle when bike is warm & off the choke(brass knob left side and back from pot1 )
After that any other splutterings are synch / dirty jet related in most cases.
CONGRATS on your ticket to ride.

if i get the carbs synced and see how it goes and its still the same and i clean the carbs and possibly reset the jets, would they need resynced again? i dont have time to sort carbs as work takes up alot of my time atm

R,
do the carb work & then synch or you will have to synch twice NOT that this is very time consuming 2-3 hours tops

i just bought my 95 600 and i am having the same problem it runs fine after i get going but it doesnt like to idle at all. hot or cold. when i start it the idle is fine but after about 30 seconds or so it drops down to around 500-600 then sputters and dies. i am thinking i need to adjust the carbs idle but i am not sure. this is my first bike. i am a mechanic but normally work on fuel injectons, and have never worked on a bike before.

getting carbs balanced and cleaned sorted my issue out, best thing to do is get the bike started and on the choke for 5 mins or so cause FZRs need to be warmed up alot, then see what she idles at, if its low adjust the idle screw, normally just above the petrol peacock, i think when started they normally idle at about 1.5k and drop down to about 1k once warm enough... deffo worth pulling carbs off to check float heights, pilot screws etc
