A sufficiently old and internally beat up battery will show a full charge, but it's a 'surface' charge - there's no staying power, and certainly no starting power.

Try a boost from a switched-OFF car, charging the battery on a tender, or bump start the bike.

Thanks for the idea, however, the bike is on a tender and is a new battery. Start button and noid rattles, I tried jumping the noid and there was no luck there either. Thanks though very appreciated

New battery, eh? Make sure the battery terminals are tight - I've done that one every now and then... :duh:

If that doesn't work, make sure the red 'hot' wire to the top of the starter is secure. You may need to pull the starter and make sure the body-to-engine ground path is clean.

Also make supe that both safety switches are working properly. I know that my kickstand switch quit one time Ame I had to bypass it. I don't think my starter clicked though. Can't remember.

Kilika - a chattering solenoid means the safety switches and starter cut-out relay are happy and TRYING to do their thing. The problem lies somewhere between the solenoid and the -ve battery terminal.

Just because the solenoid is chattering, doesn't mean there is enough power flowing to turn over the engine. Battery, wiring, connections, starter, or solenoid - something is robbing power (or not putting out enough).

Can the bike be bump-started? Is the engine seized?

Dismount the starter motor; leave the +ve cable connected. Use a booster cable to run from a bolting flange on the starter back to the battery -ve. Does the starter spin when you hit the button?

This is a 600; pull the peanut cover and inspect your starter gears and clutch for fouling, damage, jammed bits of squirrel.

I've had a starter go bad in an fzr before. put it in 3rd and rock it back and let the clutch out - you should hear the starter click, now put it in neutral and press starter. if it turns over and the starter is noisy it's probably a bad starter.

hav you tried bridging the solinoid? that can sometimes stick, put a screwdriver(rubber handled!!) across the 2 terminals and see if that turns it over....if you havent tried yet

Markie - I meant, "Does the starter now spin with it dismounted and hooked up to jumper cables?"

Ruddiger - he did mention 'jumping' the solenoid; I assume that's what he meant.
