So I ordered a set of bar ends :http://www.rei.com/product/686043/3rd-e ... end-mirror. I am having an issue getting them past the threading inside the clip-ons. I was thinking of using a 5/8" drill bit and drilling the threads out. I dont know how comfortable I feel with this mod, so if anyone can give me some guidance, I would be greatly appreciated.

hi,
I think you will find that those who have gone the bar end mirrors route gave it up in short order due to the fact the mirrors became useless with the vibration.

I will be packing the bars with some material (steel shot, sand, something like that) to kill the vibes. I have a 'fighter, so I dont have many options on mirrors.

Buddy tells me that the threads are removable. I see two dimples on the clip on......rivets? If so can I drill em out to take the threads out?

Is there a sleeve over the mirror insert? Both my sets (different manuf.) came with one that was removable. Just loosen it all the way and slide it off, then the fized one slides into the threaded bar ends no problem.

I run my bar end mirror with the stock bar ends. They clamp around it and having the stock weights reduces shake. A little late I guess....
