Riding Around Naked...

Post by blensen »

...The bike that is. I bought my FZR last spring and have loved it as a daily rider, except for one thing. At highway speeds, the stock bodywork kicks up all of the air coming over the top of the bike right into my chin. I thought about a double bubble, but I don't think that'll help enough, so i decided I'd try it without fairings. I took them all off and success! For the first time today I was able to ride my bike at 70 mph without my head getting slapped all over the place by wind buffeting. It's pretty ugly right now, but I'll be buying a 7 inch headlight this weekend and hopefully have mounts made up for the gauges, blinkers, and new light done by the end of next week (that's a big if since it's finals week for me). I think I'm going to have to put the tail on a diet for it to look good. We'll see where that goes.

I'll have pictures of how it was before and as it sits now in the morning. Wish me luck!

Yeah the stock bodywork just isn't for me. If nothing else, this may end up being a comfortable stepping stone between stock and totally custom bodywork. I've always liked naked bikes though so I won't be surprised if I keep it this way.

Guys,
At 6' 2" I feel your pain, but double bubble does help BUT there are versions of both stock & double bubble with a flipped up top edge and that is the Mutt's nuts as they say
