S,
yes there was a design change probably 89 (not absolutely sure ) my 92 does not have it. What you will have to watch with this is the oil filter setup is different too. the 92 is like a car oil filter in its own can
see:-

where as yours is inside part (removable)of the engine casting.

thanks for that , at least i now know that it isnt a hybrid and will make sourcing parts easier. the oil cooler connections are badly corroded so just waiting on a pm from yamster who hopefully has one, this is one of the things i like about this site , genuine used parts from genuine owners as well as information and advice. i hope that after slowly making my way through this bike i can return the information gathered to newbies like myself Noob

as usual each time i take on a project something crops up, this time it is impending house move , so stripping the bike is on hold until i move....its easier moving a complete bike than boxes of bits. on the plus side where i am going has a garage !thanks to yamster for sorting out the oil cooler for this and kindly posting it to northern ireland. i am still waiting for the local locksmith to get the blank key to cut for the ignition, so in a few weeks my partner(who is 30 weeks pregnant) will become a workshop widow and i will have my escape route from dirty nappies and crying, :grinnod: just kidding, wouldnt miss all that for anything, not even a fizzer

The "apprentice" will not be allowed into the man cave till it is at least 4 on pain of castration by the mother in most cases. It is good way to teach kids to count from 6(as in 6mm spanner) through to 22 (22mm spanner). :notworthy:

You will also have to bite your tongue when grazing knuckles etc as kids like the sound of "bad words" and learn them quicker than you will ever believe possible. :grinnod:

Better yet learn a 2nd language and learn to swear in that whilst waiting to escape back to the cave

This thread has gotten SERIOUSLY off topic...

:hijack: I'm going to go out on a limb here, and bring the topic back around. We just had a variant of this discussion over on the Archives; unless the UK '90 FZR600 was substantially different from the US model, Scoobydoo does in fact have a hybrid - the cooler is off an FZ600, but it's a bolt-on mod. The same parts were also used on the FJ600 and the XJ650.

Sure - how? I just spent 5 minutes rummaging through the Wiki, and really couldn't figure out WTF I was doing. I decided to stop before I formatted the server or something equally stupid... :duh:
