ok so i was riding home this afternoon, when all of a sudden, my rpm's just went crazy like they were having a seisure! from like 500 to 2000 rpm just slamming back and forth, then the bike cut off and died, i noticed that the vr was hot( but thats what they do), so i took the seat ect off and got to work in the gas station parking lot, at first it just clicked rappidly, and was getting wasnt even trying to crank, so as time went by ( 20 min) i felt the vr and it was cool again, so i tried to start the bike again, and it atleast atempted to start, so i walked across the street to a dealership and borrowed a jump box, jumped it off and i was good to go.. thats the second time i have been stranded with the same problem..

i looked at the vr and it is the newer one, BUT it seems to have REALLY BAD corrosion on the termanals. and one wire was slid ontop of a pin and not hooked directly to the pin, so .. i broke the tools out and once again got to work, i made sure the wires were correct, and they were, i had to redue the ground, and everything is really dirty, i just dont want to put cleaner on the vr and risk having to get a new one if i dnt have too. so what could be causing this? i hope that it was just that wire that wasnt hooked all the way up and not anything major.. any imput would be good guys, im concidering on just thinking i wasnt made to ride a bike, and getting another crx to boost. BUT I DONT WANT TO! it just seems like my bike hates me for some strange reason...

They've all got a little fight in them haha. The issue definitely sounds like the VR. I would clean all the terminals and make sure it's grounded really well. No sense in giving up now. You have the hard part already done!

one more thing i just found out that the body of the vr has to be grounded to the frame aswell, mine is not it was just stuffed under the seat ( previous owner).
and i have the r1 body kit so it wont go to its usual place, so.. what i did was put it on the tail section of the frame where the ecu is, i sanded that whole spot to bare metal and bolted it down, it that going to work for a ground? also my vr is black, so should i sand down the back of it just to kake sure it grounds good?

The 4-pin VR grounds to the frame. The 5-pin VRR has a separate ground wire, and can be mounted pretty much anywhere.
Clean & tighten the connections (actually connect that flappy wire - sounds like the PO did are really lousy job on the adapatation), and get some dialectic grease in there to protect the connections.

it almost looks like battery acid, would it be safe to put vinager on the vr male ends? or would that damage the unit?

Can you post a pic? And I strongly recommend running the ground all the way to the engine. Somewhere with no paint and no junk. And like he said dielectric grease EVERYWHERE. Every plug and fuse you can find.

brake cleaner seems a bit harsh. i used some vinager and a tiny flat head and just picked the stuff off it, then i replaced the female ends. i havent rode it yet, but it starts up fine, so lets see what happends, on another note kilika is posting some pics for me so be on the look out! ( thank you by the way).
