T_G,
Looks good but it worries me that it sounds like there is no metal in the big diameter?

If it is all f'glass construction the heat of the exhaust gases will cause the f'glass to burn and Vinyl is VERY nasty on the skin if melting !!

A friend had a Carbon can and that toasted quit well inside 3 months, he got a replacement under warranty, which we promptly took apart and lined with a 24 g alloy sheet rolled as a tube liner, looks real good 18 months later no toasting/bubbling any place

Personally I would use a big metal diameter and then space a second skin off that by say 1/16 to 1/8 inch off with very thin sheet alloy and wrap that in the Vinyl sheet. Any one looking at it will have to look real close to spot the skin and the air passing between skins when moving will keep the vinyl cool.

Just me thinking out loud.................................

I agree with Geo, I don't believe that the vinyl is made to hold up to heat. The carbon fiber you see on most exhaust systems is real carbon fiber and the pipe is usually well insulated.

The CF vinyl is mainly for decorative pieces away from heat - triples, mirrors, fenders, etc...

Does look nice though!

i understand what you both are saying. I already tested the muffler (before i put the vinyl on) and it doesn't get that hot. you can hold your hand on it with no problem. What i did, is I packed the sound absorbing material in a lot of kitchen aluminum foil (the type of foil that you put your sandwich in when you go to work). If it will hold up in time fine, if not, i will do a real carbon fiber can. :D
Here I have a picture with the packing of the muffler.

T_G,
you just might get away with that <BG> just be sure to check the packing regularly

that is an interesting adaptation of a tail. at first i kinda thought it looked weird, but after looking at it for a bit, it is really cool! nice work man. how is the vinyl wrap working out on the can?

It holds up no problem so far. The can gets a little bit warm but not to the point so it can't be touched with the hand. I'll try making some other cans and put them up for sale here in Romania. Maybe I can make some money out of them.

The bike looks even better live. I let one of my friends drive the bike in front of me, and the way that wide rear tire and tiny tail looks from behind it's amazing!!! I almost had an erection when i saw it live from behind! :headbang:

That'd be cool if the passenger section was removable like a trailer hitch on a truck. That way you could go to a solo seat too and it'd look MEAN :headbang: Looks good!

T-G,
that is one neat tail extension, top marks for something "out side the box"

Thanks for your appreciation guys! I'm thinking about making the tail out of aluminium next year, but i guess that that would make my rear end way to light. I allready feel all the bumps in the road when i'm riding alone on the bike. When a second person sits on the passenger seat, the rear shock starts to absorb the bumps better. As I said in another topic, i think that the bike is more suitable for a race track , but it definetly satisfies my need on the road. The 110 tire on the front and 180 tire on the back give awsome stability in the curves, and you don't have to work hard to make the bike to lean as you would for example when you are rolling with 110 and 160/60/18. I'll take one day on a huge scale so i can weight it with the full tank.

Most bike manuals recommend different settings for 'solo riding' and 'riding with passenger'. Most of the racers around here re-spring based on weight differences of 30-40lb; you're adding / removing 4-5 times that with a passenger!

It sounds like you're dialed in for two-up riding; if the bike is over-sprung when riding by yourself, get out the shock wrench and back out some pre-load.

I will do so, but I don't want my rear end to be too wavy.
