so over the weekend my battery went bad, and right before the low beams went out. then the high beams went out. i thought maybe the batter had something to do with it, but i was wrong. im hoping the bulbs just went bad but it wouldnt surprise me that the wireing is messed up. just just want to know if anyone had something like this where the low beams went out first then the high beams.

Most of us have.. First check all your fuses.. Make sure they are all good. They may have blow when the battery went. Also check vour vr.. That could have fried them and your battery. But your bike would also have starting problems.. Start with the fuses (cheapest first)

Yes.. That's them.. All good? So yes, I had a similar issue that traced back to the vr. Still blew the bulbs and needed to be replaced.

Classic VR symptoms. Check for VR upgrade on the WIKI and get it fixed.

Blue wire in the switch still connected? Known to come loose.

Seconded on sweeks. It is probably just as common as the vr. It's in the kill switch contol.

Chris.

So which is it? :whistle Sounds like your battery is all sulfided up. It might be possible to clean it up with a gadget you can build from the Internet, but the plates might be damaged. These could be symptoms of overcharging.

the first battery looked bad, so i changed it because it wouldnt hold a charge. before i changed the battery the headlights went out. that when i though it was the battery. i changed the battery and the head lights still dont work. either i think they went out, wiring or the vr. to test the vr just see how much volts its putting out when running??

If the headlights failed due to a faulty VR, they are not going to work again. They burned out the filaments and will need to be replaced. By the way, a VR that allows overcharging can fail every bulb, the tachometer, and the TCI as well as do damage to the wiring and possibly cause a fire. Make sure the VR is healthy before proceeding.
