Spring rate?

Ok Id like to order racetech fork springs along with abunch of other stuff from bike bandit. Problem they do not have the reccomended spring rate they have 1.o kg and .9o. Reccomended rate is .94 for the street .99 racing. I will be street only. Should I bite the bullet and pay the extra shipping, price, and tax to get the .95 from racetech diretly?

Would the 1.0 kg be to stiff for street riding? Would the .90 be tooo weak?

Thanks

Racetech has given you a range that would indicate a .95-1.0 spring rate. Personal preference will play a part in selecting which one. Racetech wants me on .80 (street) and .85 (race). With .80s (34mm rider sag) the front feels a bit soft for my taste. The .90s in my current set up (min. pre-load) (don't recall sag) are stiff but I could live with it. I have .85s and I will install them as soon as I get the chance.

In your case, I would go with the .95-1.0. .90s will likely be too soft. You could always get springs from Sonic Springs and save a bit over Racetech. I think I paid $79. I am sure they will provide whatever rate you want.

Thanks for the response the old scale further helped my decision I was quite a bit heavier than I thought. Im going to have to think about not eating from the taco truck. Probably the best performance mod and I will be saving money.

Based on the info provided I was going to suggest .95 for street use. That's why I mentioned Sonic Springs. They should have them and they will save you some money. But if you erred on the light side of your weight, .10 may be the way to go. Best of luck.

I should have also prefaced my above stated observations with .90 springs by stating that they are not in FZR forks, but in R6 (cartridge) forks installed on my FZR400. Results may have differed with FZR (damper rod) forks.

Thanks again. Yea mon going with the 1.0 based on my reality weight and the weight of the bike based on the manual here on Wiki quite a lot heavier than the preset weight for the fzr on Race tech site calculator.
