Rear Tire Hugger Group Order. Anyone Interested?

Post by the_finch »

I was talking with Airtech about their R1 kit rear tire hugger (the only know commercially produced hugger on the market for our bike, to my knowledge) and was told that selling just the hugger itself was a possibility if I had a group order of 10-15 people together.

Just wanting to know how many people might be interested. (Details below)

It would take them approx 5 weeks to fill the order of 10, 15 would take longer.
Price per unit would likely be in the 100 to 110 range, but I will be selling them at my actual realized cost + the actual cost of shipping (the group order would be shipping to my house)
These are the units with the integrated chain guard (if we do this, I'll do a how-to thread on how to remove this)
They are made of unpainted fiberglass and have to be mounted and painted be you

So......anyone interested? :whistle

That sounds like a good IDEA , if it ever goes through .
I Ordered my tail from AIRTECH they told me a couple weeks it didnt come in for 2 months .In fact i went to europe and a month into my trip i called them and it still wasnt shipped to my door. So my guess is your 5 weeks would really be 10, i would hope not .
I also have purchased a hugger from EBAY .After ebay and getting it sprayed in a real Booth i payed around $200. Your proposed $100-110 sounds like a good deal but i have to wonder what the initial cost from you and probably 19.99-29.99 shipping .. im not sure how many people are really willing to shell out the dough . BUT . for all the people that would like one but think its to much . I LOVE MY HUGGER lol i think it adds that missing link to the rear end. <next to the tail> . You have to watch out for airtech , they are the only ones that make these things for out bikes but they are very cheaply made i bought a airtech fender and it didnt fit and i wont spend another penny on it .. but let me tell u this much.. YOur hugger will crack if u ride very aggressive or pop wheelies < trust me i know> ive had it at the paint booth at the end of every season from the fiberglass cracking but ohh well.. this isnt to deter anyone fom buying this item by all means i love mine ,, just wanted to fill you in with my experience with it .. GOODLUCK I HOPE U GET THEM TO MAKE A MASS ORDER CUZ THAT PIECE OF SHIT TOLD ME THAT I'D NEVER GET ONE UNLESS I ORDER THE WHOLE KIT .. LOL :shocker

Before you get married to Airtech ..... did you try to call Cheetah or SharkSkinz and see if they can do it ?

I still have a traditional drag-ass blocky tail so I'll keep splattering mud up there. No huggers for me, no kissies either. Sorry.

Sounds like a damn good deal though. :banjoman
