my slow fzr builds

Post by racerd14666 »

might as well start another thread since the archives went down, currently have 2 fzr projects going on plus many other projects, the 90 is gonna be the extensive naked build with swapped 96 motor thats slightly modded :whistle, custom true dual exhaust, maybe a turbo if i can strengthen parts to replace all the weak parts in the motor. tail is gonna be hacked off into a solo seat and fightered out with inverted forks r6 rear shock and of course custom paint. the 96 is gonna be the less crazy daily ridden build with full fairings not to much done to the motor, nice custom two brothers carbon fiber exhaust can and some other goodies.

tear down on both has begun awhile ago just haven't had time to make much progress on either of them, as they sit the 96 is almost stripped to a rolling chassis, the 90 has its fairings and air box stripped off as of now.

body work has begun for the 96 heres some pics

this is what i started off with.
the 96 after its 4th paint job were i said f*ck it lets ride and not finish the headlight gauge swap that i had planned, (i mean i was in sunny orlando after all and its funner to ride than wrench in the heat)

and the 90 was a amazing $300 find didn't run due to electrical problems (ignition switch un plugged) and had a killer latex paint job

Image

nice shot of the hidden frame damage but its getting hacked off any ways

photo bucket is being ghey and wont let me upload any more pics right now.

body work has begun and the artist to come up with my paint scheme is useless so any body who is good at graphic design feel free so shoot me some ideas il compensate or slap your logo on the bike

more progress to come

yeah the paint is interesting alright, but 1) the paint looks a hell of a lot better in the pictures than in person, 2) some of its got a latex base to it and its peeling, 3) ever panel has a crack or cob job patch panel repair that has to get addressed, 4) its god awful ugly, and i cant be seen having a paint job like that at the yamaha ducati dealership i work at since they have already seen a few of the bikes i have painted and know the quality of work i do.

id post more picture but photobucket isnt working for me for what ever reason, and you cant add attachments on this forum

il have to hit him up and see if he wants to do it cus so far my luck has ben the 4 artist i have asked to do it back out for one reason or another, i mean im in no rush to pain that bike but id still like to have a idea so i can start making the one off detail parts

heres some more pics of the uber ugly paint on the 90 since photo bucket isnt being retarded

as you can see i got my work cut out for me as every mounting hole is cracked or already ben repaired with something that broke again, and most of the tabs are broke and have some sheet metal nonsense holding them together with square nuts witch i find interesting......enough of pointing out the bad shit on this bike and onto the good stuff, the pile of parts and the progress

Image

i find it funny that the PO painted the 90 the same colors as my 96 was painted but not striping paint in between color changes

Image

some more of that amazing repair job
Image

most of the paint is off gotta switch to a different less damaging sander cus im almost to bare plastic, you can still see some of the remaining flake from the last paint job,

Image

its kinda a weird feeling knowing that the fact that this tank look like this less than a year ago

Image

Image

the cob job that caused this bike to not run and me get it dirt cheap

Image

found some more damage and interesting cob jobbing on the 90

Image

Image

Image

not to sure what the deal is with the gauge cluster and why its mounted like that either way something isnt right

and how there sitting now

bad shape is a understatement, the 90 is in such bad shape it made me change my plans of witch bike was gonna get chopped and witch bike was gonna be the daily rider. but since the tail is damaged on the 90 and has such hard cold starting that it probably needs valve work, i figured just to drop both motors swap them around and the fairings over to the 96 so its the stocker daily driver and put the modded motor in the 90 and fighter that bike out but the more i dig into them im thinking of just running them both naked, but i think thats taking the bitch way out and not fixing all them plastics lol,

thanks for the compliments, im looking forward to painting these bikes cus i got a new HVLP gun and a new dual action air brush so im hoping to flex my painting skills/muscles on these if i can come up with a paint scheme lol

im really happy with how the reflective chrome finish came out and the black looks awesome, and the best part was it was all free free free haha
