UPDATE!!!

Ok so last night I finished stripping the rims and dealing with that.

Tonights focus was to figure out why my front suspension feels like a ninja 250.

So, after reading numerous posts and topics about how to fix this, I decided to start cheap (can allways upgrade later with racetech or something of that nature). So I got ahold of some 20 weight oil and swapped that in the front forks, drained 13 oz out and replaced with 13 oz of fresh. Keep in mind I did all this with the forks still on so I definitly did not drain all the old oil. Not worried about it, again...these are my starter forks .
Ok then I wanted to deal with the issue of the nose dive and saggy front, I I went to LOWES and picked up the closest sized PCV pipe to replace the stock 1 1/4 inch diameter spacer. After cutting and grinding flush the new pvc spacers I put them in. They were slightly more than a 1/2 inch longer than the stock spacers. By the way putting the caps back on was a test of patience. Having to compress the now more resistant springs and twist the caps was tough...Ended up rigging a set up involving a 1/2 in socket over top the 3/8 socket (can give more specifics if anyone is trying this).



End result of the (cheaply) upgraded front is great. I was launching in first and nailing the front and it did not bottom out and felt pretty good. Not nearly as stiff as my 08 ZX6R was but that is good...hopefully more comfortable for distance trips.

I also cut out a circle of tape to place over the ram air tube inlet. Installed rear red LED (awaiting clear tail light lens). Removed old windscreen (awaiting new one).



Ok so overall bike came with:
stainless steel brake lines (front)
d@d exhaust
jet kit

I have completed/added(or ordered and awaiting):
stripped rims and inside painted black
flush mounted turn signals
larger spacers and thicker oil in front suspension
new clear windscreen
clear tail light with led bulbs
then a bunch of tweaking/fixing of stock parts (mostly replacing missing bolts)

Bought for 1000. I am sitting at 1160 invested total.

By the way putting the caps back on was a test of patience.

Did you have all of the pressure off the front end? I used ratchet straps to the ceiling joists in my garage and lifted the front off the ground that way.

same...had rachet straps to the ceiling. front end off the ground. With the longer spacers, it was just more to compress.

Hi,
as always there is a trick to this & this trick can be applied when changing/ using screws into plastic bosses so you do not cross thread or burn out the plastic "thread" in the boss (such as indicators / tail lamp lenses )

Place the screw's thread against the thread in the hole DO NOT try to screw it in BUT slowly try screw it out by turning the screw.
You will HEAR/FEEL a click as the two screw threads pass the start of each other NOW you can start the the threading in process and NOT cross thread it etc etc.

I actually used the reverse clicking method which I tend to do most everytime I try to screw a bolt, cap, ect... however, my difficulty was more in the pressure it required to compress the spacers into the fork tubes, and the awkward positioning it took to do anything else while simultaneously trying to maintain downward pressure. In any case they're in and im happy. Thanks.

I actually used the reverse clicking method which I tend to do most everytime I try to screw a bolt, cap, ect... however, my difficulty was more in the pressure it required to compress the spacers into the fork tubes, and the awkward positioning it took to do anything else while simultaneously trying to maintain downward pressure. See great minds do think alike :-} Glad it worked out for you, when you get a chance take a look @TSS<?> PD valves you will find references on my FZR pages. Whilst good pre load /sag /figures and thicker oil do make a difference I will NEVER regret the change of springs to my body weigh & the bikes PLUS those valves.
