Certainly looks like a 91-92 production model but, mine (imported from Europe) has the same single headlamp nose cone, and is declared registered 1993. Maybe the US got them first.
Maybe like as guinea pigs, so Japan could supply the rest of the world with proper bikes ha.

I do believe it is a 93, from what I can find, but I have never seen that color scheme on a single headlight before.
Here in the states, the single headlight FZR600s were 91-92.

is it possible that Australia got the YZF600 renamed to the FZR600R? isn't that a single headlamp?

YZR600 and the FZR600R frames are aluminium, Your frame is FRZ600 & made of steel.
Like I said Japan used the States for testing purposes = We get better bikes LOL2

FZR600R is a foxeye. Different than yours. Because the lines get blurred with these bikes there's an off chance that you have a 92 that was not titled and registered until 94. So people are thinking it's a 94 from that. There's another off chance that you guys got a special model. I do recall Europe (Germany, Belgium, etc) getting an FZR 1000 with a gunmetal frame instead of the natural aluminum. I've only seen one of those though.

The vin will be correct for the frame, its possible and probable that somebody switched up the body work tho.

Um, did you proof read your post at all?

YZR600 never existed (YZR was two stroke and unobtainable). FZR600 never had an aluminum frame in any of its configurations. The YZF600 never had an aluminum frame either. And the rest of the world always gets the newest models first or equal to the USA. I don't consider a nose change to be a new model.

Guys,
The model year is meaningless outside of the country you are in, I have a1981 RD400 which does not exist outside of my homeland. It equates to a 1980 Canadian model which does not exist outside Canada but is a Daytona 1979 bike in US form. so what year is it 79? 80? 81?

The VIN systems were standardized in 1981 so the 10th character in the VIN will tell you the year. The reality is whatever your department of motor vehicles has it titles as is probably what you're stuck with, I don't see it being worth it to fight them to correct it. This is assuming that in Austraila they have the same systems, with the global
parts bins I'm assuming so

Rich what can I say er..... I have fat fingers and made a typo My "R" key is directly above the "F" key

. Thanks for the info on the frame material tho, I definitely thought the YZF600 and 600R foxeye frames were aluminium.
But your
wrong Japan does use the USA as guinea pigs, I discovered that a few months ago, one night I had a dream

I'm

again of course
Thanks for the frame info

Hey guys,
I realize it's in Australia but that bike is exactly what would be the result if you married the black model of the U.S. '93 (as Darrin mentioned) - with the upper of a black model U.S. '92 (and took off the decals on the lowers of course).
